About Us

The festival provides a wonderful showcase for encouraging young performers in music, dance and drama to perform in public and experience competition in a friendly and creative environment. The participants also have the opportunity to be judged by experienced independent adjudicators. As well as encouraging young people, the festival delights in affording performance opportunities for more mature singers and actors with our Festivals of Choirs and One Act Plays.

Our Volunteers

The Festival has a dedicated organising team which works hard to ensure each festival runs as smoothly as possible and offers as much performance opportunity to entrants as it can. All this effort though would be worthless without the support and enthusiasm of the wonderful people who volunteer each year to work alongside us. We are immensely grateful to the lovely lot who are such an important part of this event. Each class requires three people to ensure it runs properly; a Room Steward, an Adjudicator Steward and a Corridor Steward – all challenging and rewarding jobs in their different ways. As the festival continues to grow and develop, new classes need more stewards. If you think you might be interested in becoming involved and joining our ranks of volunteers please contact Chris Dodd, our temporary Stewards Co-ordinator (chris_dodd11@hotmail.com).

The festival also has a lovely social life with it’s stewards and supporters. In a recent summer event committee members and stewards enjoyed a garden party together which was a great way to chill out and get to know each other better. Following that in the New Year we had a cool Christmas get-together which was a lovely antidote to all the festive hustle and bustle. A few months later we made the most of the gorgeous balmy September weather and indulged in an ‘Afternoon Tea’ gathering – very Great British Bake Off! – and had a fantastic Cheese and Wine evening recently this February. Our latest gathering has been another afternoon tea with a gorgeous array of homemade cakes – Paul Hollywood wanted to drop by but he’s not a steward so we had to tell him No! In June we held the first of, hopefully, several very successful Afternoon Tea Fundraisers; themed ‘The Mad Hatter’s Afternoon Tea Party’and hosted at St Annes Old Links Golf Club by St Annes Inner Wheel, the afternoon was filled with laughter, tea, gorgeous hats, naughty cakes and mad hats! It was much enjoyed by almost 60 stewards and supporters of the festival and raised over £500 which will go towards ensuring the 2020 festival happens.
